Camper Experience

Thank you for your interest in Camp Hope! Camp Hope is a summer camp for children and youth who have, or have had, cancer. It is provided free of charge.

Our campers range in age from 5 to 17 years. They have a wide variety of underlying diagnoses. They can be in remission, cured or on active treatment. All we ask is that they be healthy enough to enjoy the camp experience.

Horseback Riding

The goal of Camp Hope is to provide a traditional summer camp experience for these amazing kids and teens. Campers participate in a wide variety of activities. Some of the weekly highlights include swimming, fishing, golfing at the country club, bowling, miniature golfing and more. There is an arts and crafts cabin. We often visit the local waterpark and have a talent show as well. The final night of camp is a dance and each year has a different, exciting theme.

Camp Aldrich

Camp Hope is held at Camp Aldrich near Great Bend, Kansas. This campground is rustic appearing but with modern amenities. All of the cabins are air-conditioned. There are concrete paths connecting all of the main areas of camp. There is a swimming pool with licensed lifeguards, a basketball court, a playground, a kickball court and more. The campground is approximately 90 minutes from Wichita and 4 hours from Kansas City. We do offer free charter bus transportation for campers from Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City; each bus is staffed with a medical volunteer.

If you send your child to Camp Hope, you can rest assured that they will not only have a fun week but that they will be kept safe. Camp Hope is accredited by the American Camp Association. That group has a strict set of safety standards that must be met in order for a camp to earn accreditation. We are proud to say we have maintained continuous accreditation since we first applied in 2002.

Bowling

Camp Hope provides a full medical team for your camper’s health needs. This medical team is on-site 24 hours a day the entire week. The team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists and mental health specialists. There is a dedicated medical cabin where we can perform minor procedures, administer chemotherapy or observe a sick camper. We are also able to do most lab draws at Camp itself. There is one hospital nearby in Great Bend in case of an emergency.

We recognize that it takes a lot of trust to have your child away from home at a summer camp. If your child attends Camp Hope, you can feel confident that they are not only safe but are having one of the best weeks of their lives! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Camper applications are available in early January each year. We look forward to seeing you in June!
